Prompt
GOAL:
Build "Angkor Jelly", a single self-contained HTML file (no external requests) in the "Material Studies" series: an interactive WebGPU diorama of Angkor Wat cut out of a block of translucent jelly that wobbles, tilts when you drag its side, and ripples when you drag across its water. Simulate the water as a real shallow-water grid with separate bodies (moat, lotus ponds, rice paddies) that can rise and fall independently.
MOTION:
Scene: the temple on its island inside a wide rectangular moat; a long causeway with naga balustrades and seven-headed hoods leading to the great western gateway in a laterite enclosure wall; a raised walk past two libraries and two lotus ponds (pads and pink flowers) to the temple — three rising tiers of galleries with corner towers and five lotus-bud towers, a gilded Buddha in the central one, the Terrace of Honour in front. Grey-gold sandstone in courses with bas-relief bands, black lichen streaks and damp green near the water; red pitted laterite. Dense jungle around the moat with kapok giants (pale trunks, buttress roots), sugar palms, and a small ruined shrine held in the roots of a strangler fig. Along the red laterite road in front: a village of palm-thatched stilt houses with spirit houses, banana clumps, fruit trees, straw stacks and water jars, a red-roofed pagoda and a white stupa, a buffalo wallow; rice paddies in a grid of bunds with young green, lush and golden plots, a field hut and a scarecrow.
Life: fish in the moat and ponds, egrets and a pond heron wading, a kingfisher diving, a flock of parakeets, macaques sitting on walls and steps, two elephants with riders in howdahs walking the bank path, water buffalo, visitors, villagers and farmers in conical hats walking real paths (never into water), processions of monks in saffron crossing the causeway.
Four events, each with its own state machine, status lines and UI counters:
1. Sunrise — night falls, a crowd gathers at the lotus pond, first light glows pink behind the towers, camera flashes, the sun disc rises and the day returns.
2. Monsoon — clouds build, a storm with lightning and heavy rain, the moat, ponds and paddies rise until the paddies run together; then it clears to a rainbow and the water slowly goes down.
3. Boat race — two long naga boats (red Naga, gold Garuda) with ten paddlers each paddle to the line, a gong, they race down the moat throwing spray while spectators cheer from the bank, a winner, then they paddle back; keep score.
4. Apsara dance — five dancers in gold crowns on the terrace with a seated orchestra.
Tapping: a tower rings bells, an elephant trumpets, a monkey chatters, a tree drops leaves. Space = sunrise, H folds the panel.
Sound with Web Audio, synthesized only (gongs, roneat xylophone, kong, ching, drums, birdsong at dawn, rain, thunder, crowd); no constant background ambience — sounds only on events, loops only while an event lasts.
UI: editorial layout (serif italic title "Angkor Jelly.", eyebrow "Material Studie
